Leafs Reimer, Phaneuf and Schenn to play for Canada at Worlds
During their end of NHL season annual player interviews with the media, James Reimer, Dion Phaneuf and Luke Schenn announced their inclusion to Team Canada for the 2011 IIHF World Hockey Championships.
The experience should be an excellent motivator for next season as the trio of Leafs will suit up along side the likes of Rick Nash & Eric Staal in a run for Gold in Slovakia.
Other Leafs playing in the World Championship include:
Nikolai Kulemin (Russia)
Mikhail Grabovski (Belarus)
Mike Komisarek (USA)
Mike Brown (USA)
Clarke MacArthur (Canada Stand By)
Marlies include:
Korbinian Holzer (Germany)
Marcel Mueller (Germany)
Juraj Mikus (Slovakia)
Phil Kessel was invited to play for USA but declined after playing in the last 3 tournaments.
Notes: Maple Leafs Assistant GM Dave Nonis is the General Manager for Team Canada, Ken Hitchcock will coach the team in Slovakia.
Let's hope next year we won't be discussing which Leafs are playing in the Worlds.
